The Faculty of Computing, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), successfully hosted its Computing Week 2026 from 22nd to 26th June 2026, under the theme: “Computing for Development: Driving Local Innovation and Sustainability.”
The five-day event brought together students, academic staff, technology enthusiasts, innovators and other members of the University community to celebrate the transformative role of computing and its growing contribution to development and innovation.
Themed “Computing for Development: Driving Local Innovation and Sustainability,” the Computing Week provided a platform for intellectual engagement, knowledge sharing, creativity and collaboration, with emphasis on the application of computing and emerging technologies to address real-world challenges.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in activities that promoted technological awareness, innovation, creativity and practical problem-solving. The event also provided opportunities for students to showcase their skills, exchange ideas and explore emerging trends in the computing and technology landscape.
The programme further highlighted the importance of locally driven technological solutions in addressing community challenges and supporting sustainable development. It also underscored the Faculty’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of computing professionals, innovators and technology leaders.
The Computing Week served as an avenue for students and other participants to learn, network and collaborate while gaining broader perspectives on the role of computing in shaping the future of society.
